Free Crash Course in Basic Judaism I &II / Critical Jewish Questions

The Phoenix Community Kollel is offering a Crash Course in Basic Judaism to all members of the Jewish community. The course consists of five lectures and is geared towards educating Jews with little or no knowledge about their religion's basic precepts.An estimated four million American Jews are not affiliated with any religious denomination or institution.  For many such Jews, the reason they list for non­involvement is because they lack a fundamental understanding of their
religion and its basic precepts.  National Jewish Outreach Program (NJOP) is the national sponsors
 of the Crash Course in Basic Judaism, Each week of the   five-week course Rabbis of the Kollel
will discuss a different topic. 

The lecture topics of the Crash Course part I include:

1) Belief in God, 2) Shabbat, 3) Divine Origin of the Torah 4) Relationships 5) Prayer

The Crash Course II includes:
 1)Why Bad things Happen to good people2) RelationshipsII 3)Rituals 4)Kabbalah and 5)Kosher
 Transparent Answers to Critical Jewish Questions covering basic contemporary topics that uncover the foundations of Judaism.Each week of  this four-week course Rabbis of the Kollel will discuss a differnt topic.
Course includes:
1)Why are there people who hate the Jews?
2) Intermarriage...Why Not?
3) Why don't the Jews believe in Jesus
4) What happens to the soul after we die?

Phoenix Conference for Jewish Women
 In 2005 responding to the growing challenges Jewish women face in day-to-day life, the Phoenix Community Kollel Woen's Division directed by Cindy Landesman and chaired by Arlene Glazer started presenting the Phoenix Conference for Jewish Women.
The conference has featured  sessions on a number of topics affecting today's Jewish women. Attendees can choose one morning and one afternoon session to attend.Session topics in the past have included; "Fitness That Fits: The Perfect Personal Workout for Your Lifestyle," "Raising Your Child, Raising Yourself," and "Good Nutrition for a Better Lifestyle." Other topics include how to care for aging parents while also caring for children, ways to make Shabbat special and home decor. Sessions are led by local and national speakers. Previous speakers have included Yitta Halberstam, Becky Udman, Rebbitzen Yael Kaisman, Rebbitzen Bella Gottesman, and Aana Pouko Fisher

 
Kabbalas Shabbos at the Kollel
 
 
 
 
 
The Friday night Learners Experience is held on the second Friday eve. 
of each month at the Kollel. Kabbalos Shabbas
is a user-friendly Shabbat Learning Service which offers a traditional yet alternative opportunity to learn the meaning of the Shabbat Prayers and be inspired by the messages of the Torah all in a warm non-judgmental environment that is the trademark of the Kollel. Abraham Samuel Friedman Distinguished Speaker Series

Abraham Samuel Friedman, of blessed memory,was a successful businessman and generous philanthropist with a strong belief in Torah education. This conviction led Abe to beone of the visionaries who founded the Phoenix Community Kollel. A lifelong supporter of Torah institutions throughout the United States and Israel, this lecture series is a fitting tribute to his legacy. This series presented by The Jewish Collection located in Scottsdale, is held throughout the winter months, since 2003 has included speakers such as Esther Jungreis, Rabbi Yissacher Frand, Rabbi Moshe Weinberger, Rabbi Mordechai Becher, Lori Palatnik, Jeff Jacoby, David Weiss, and Dr. David Lieberman.
